...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM MST THIS
EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Wind
Advisory, which is in effect from noon today to 8 PM MST this
evening.

* LOCATION...Northwest Plateau and Highlands, Mount Taylor and the
West Central Highlands, and the Santa Fe Metro.

* WINDS...West becoming northwest in the afternoon 25 to 35 mph
with gusts to 50 mph.

* TIMING...Winds will increase late this morning, peak during the
midday through afternoon hours, before diminishing prior to
sunset.

* VISIBILITY...Occasionally reduced to 3 to 5 miles in blowing
dust.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Drivers of vans, campers, trailers, and other
high-profile vehicles should exercise extreme caution,
especially on highways with cross winds, including Interstate
25, U.S. Highways 550 and 491 from Gallup to Shiprock.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.

* WHAT...Heavy snow and blowing snow occurring. Plan on difficult
travel conditions. Tree branches could fall as well. Additional
snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches, with localized amounts up
to 6 inches, are expected.

* WHERE...San Juan Mountains, Northern Sangre de Cristos above
9500 feet including Red River and Southern Sangre de Cristos
above 9500 feet.

* WHEN...Until 11 PM MST this evening.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds gusting as high as 45 to 55 mph will
cause areas of blowing and drifting snow. Reduced visibility is
expected in blowing snow and white-out conditions will occur
occasionally.

road conditions. In addition, areas of poor visibility are
expected. Tree branches could fall as well. Additional snow
accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected.

* WHERE...Jemez Mountains and Lower Chama River Valley.

* WHEN...Until 4 PM MST this afternoon.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Northwest winds gusting as high as 45 to 55
mph, except around 30 mph in the Rio Grande Valley, will cause
areas of blowing and drifting snow. Reduced visibility is
expected in blowing snow and near white-out conditions will be
possible in the mountains.
