...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM MDT
WEDNESDAY...

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...Generally 5 to 10 inches. Up to 12 inches
near Raton Pass and up to 20 inches over the higher peaks of
the Sangre De Cristo Mountains.

* TIMING...Snow will increase in coverage and intensity tonight
through Wednesday morning as it expands across the Raton
Ridge. Snow will taper late Wednesday afternoon.

* WINDS...Northerly winds will increase early Wednesday. The
strongest winds will be across the Raton Ridge where sustained
speeds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph will be common.

* SNOW LEVELS...Temperatures will be cold enough for snow at all
locations by early Wednesday morning.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Heavy snow will cause snow packed and icy
conditions near Raton Pass along I-25, along Highway 64/87 and
on most roads on the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Visibilities
will be lowered in periods of heavy snow, with some potential
for whiteout conditions given some blowing snow.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food,
and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT
TONIGHT TO NOON MDT WEDNESDAY...

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...Generally 2 to 6 inches with locally higher
amounts near the I-40 corridor possible.

* TIMING...Snow will increase in coverage and intensity tonight
continuing through Wednesday morning before gradually
diminishing Wednesday afternoon.

* WINDS...Northerly winds will increase late tonight with
sustained winds 15 to 25 mph with occasional gusts near 35 mph...
before increasing to 25 to 35 mph with occasional gusts near 45
mph Wednesday morning.

* SNOW LEVELS...Decreasing to between 5000 to 6500 feet
overnight into Wednesday morning.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Snow packed and icy roads along with limited
visibility in snow will create hazardous travel conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities.
