The National Weather Service in Midland/Odessa has issued a Red
Flag Warning, which is in effect from 11 AM this morning to 9 PM
MDT this evening. A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued for
Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening.

* WIND...West southwest 20 to 25 mph with higher gusts in the
plains. West southwest 30 to 45 mph with higher gusts in the
mountains. On Tuesday, west 25 to 35 mph with higher gusts in
the plains. West 35 to 55 mph with higher gusts in the
mountains.

* HUMIDITY...5 to 7 percent today, 6 to 15 percent Tuesday.

* FIRE DANGER...Very High.

* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING...

* LOCATION...The central mountain chain and adjacent highlands
and high plains; Middle and Lower Rio Grande Valley; Upper
Tularosa Valley; West Central Mountains, Highlands and Plateau;
the Southwest Mountains and Chuska Mountains.

* WINDS...West and southwest at 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50
mph.

* TIMING...Winds will strengthen around mid day, then become
hazardous during the afternoon. Speeds should peak in strength
in the mid to late afternoon, then weaken through early
evening, except at the highest elevations where strong winds
may persist through tonight.

* VISIBILITY...Locally reduced at times in dust prone locations.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...Strong cross winds will impact north-to-south
roads like I-25 . Light-weight and unsecured objects may become
airborne.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should exercise caution while travelling. Sudden gusts
of wind may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
attention should be given to cross winds.
