Winter Storm Warning
Including the cities of Lexington, Cozad, Willow Island,
Gothenburg, Kearney, Elwood, Johnson Lake, Holdrege, Cambridge,
Arapahoe, Oxford, Beaver City, Hollinger, Alma, and Orleans
354 PM CDT Sun Apr 30 2017


* HAZARD...Wet, slushy snow and blowing snow.

* TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION...Generally 3 to 7 inches across most of
these counties, but with locally higher totals up to 9 inches
primarily in Furnas County. Considerable variability in snow
amounts is likely across any given county.

* TIMING...Snow, possibly mixing with or changing over to rain at
times, will continue into the overnight hours while gradually
ending from west-to-east. However, for much of the warning area,
the majority of snow accumulation has already occurred or will
occur before sunset, with lighter amounts overnight.

* WINDS...From the north-northwest sustained at 25 to 35 mph, and
gusting up to around 45 MPH, although a gradual decrease is
likely as the night wears on.

* IMPACTS...The combination of snow and strong winds will likely
reduce visibility to around one-half mile or less at times, with
near-blizzard conditions in the heaviest snow bands. The
combination of strong winds and wet, heavy snow will likely
damage tree limbs and power lines, resulting in some power

severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring.
Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel
dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel, keep
an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of
an emergency.
