IDAHO AND LEMHI. IN WEST CENTRAL MONTANA...DEER LODGE...
GRANITE...MISSOULA...RAVALLI AND SILVER BOW.

* THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING

* WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP
ACROSS THE AREA THIS EVENING THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY MORNING.
SOME OF THESE WILL PRODUCE BRIEF, BUT VERY HEAVY RAINFALL AND
MAY RESULT IN URBAN AND/OR SMALL STREAM FLOODING AS WELL AS
POTENTIAL ISSUES OVER RECENT WILDFIRE BURN AREAS.

* POTENTIAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS FOR WESTERN MONTANA: 0.60 TO 1.25
INCHES... LOCALLY UP TO 2.00 INCHES. FOR CENTRAL IDAHO: 0.30 TO
1.00 INCHES.

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO
NOON MDT SATURDAY ABOVE 6500 FEET...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MISSOULA HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW ABOVE 6500 FEET...WHICH IS IN EFFECT
FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON MDT SATURDAY.

* IMPACTS/TIMING: AN UNSEASONABLY COLD CANADIAN AIR MASS WILL
DESCEND UPON THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE OVERNIGHT...WITH AIR
TEMPERATURES STEADILY COOLING THROUGH SATURDAY. AT THE SAME TIME
PRECIPITATION WILL STEADILY INTENSIFY ALONG THE CONTINENTAL
DIVIDE THIS EVENING AND CONTINUE AT A VERY HEAVY RATE THROUGH
SATURDAY MORNING. THIS COMBINATION WILL DRIVE THE SNOW LEVEL
DOWN TO BETWEEN 6500 AND 7000 FEET.

* ADDITIONAL IMPACTS: PERSONS HIKING...TRAVELING OR RECREATING
BETWEEN 5000 FEET AND 6500 FEET SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR A VERY COLD
RAIN...WHICH WHEN COMBINED WITH WINDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH AND AIR
TEMPERATURES IN THE 30S AND 40S COULD HEIGHTEN HYPOTHERMIA
CONCERNS.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 1 TO 3 INCHES BETWEEN 6500 FEET AND
7000 FEET...INCLUDING LOGAN PASS. 2 TO 5 INCHES ABOVE 7000 FEET.
LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS OF UP TO 8 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE ON THE
HIGHEST PEAKS OF THE BOB MARSHALL WILDERNESS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW
WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. IN THIS CASE THE MOST
SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS WILL BE FELT TO THOSE HIKING AND VISITING THE
HIGHER TERRAIN TRAILS AND USFS ROADS. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW
COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE
DRIVING.
