...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of central Mississippi, east central Mississippi,
northeast Mississippi, south central Mississippi and southeast
Mississippi, including the following areas in central
Mississippi, Leake, Scott and Smith. In east central
Mississippi, Clarke, Jasper, Kemper, Lauderdale, Neshoba,
Newton, Noxubee and Winston. In northeast Mississippi, Clay,
Lowndes and Oktibbeha. In south central Mississippi, Jefferson
Davis and Marion. In southeast Mississippi, Covington,
Forrest, Jones and Lamar.

* Until Midnight CDT tonight

* Rainfall amounts ranging from 2 to 3 inches with localized
amounts up to 6 inches over a short amount of time could lead
to flash flooding.

* The flooding of roads, low lying areas, and areas with poor
drainage will be possible. If encountering flooded roadways,
remember to turn around, don't drown.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Southeastern Leake County in central Mississippi...
Northwestern Newton County in east central Mississippi...
East central Scott County in central Mississippi...
Neshoba County in east central Mississippi...

* Until 1045 AM CDT

* At 948 AM CDT, a confirmed tornado was located near Steele, or 7
miles southwest of Prospect, moving northeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Damaging tornado.

SOURCE...Radar confirmed tornado.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

* This tornadic storm will be near...
Prospect around 1000 AM CDT.
Neshoba, Dixon and Dowdville around 1010 AM CDT.
Philadelphia and Bethsaida around 1020 AM CDT.
Burnside around 1030 AM CDT.
Forestdale around 1035 AM CDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Tucker
and Sebastopol.

To repeat, a tornado is on the ground. TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a
basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy
building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in
a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect
yourself from flying debris.
