* Scattered thunderstorms through this evening could produce
locally heavy rainfall. Additional rainfall amounts of around
one inch with locally higher amounts on top of the already
saturated grounds and ongoing flooding could produce localized
flash flooding.

* Heavy rainfall will result in flooding of low lying or poor
drainage areas...and dangerous flash flooding on smaller creeks
and streams. Moderate to major flooding is either occurring or
forecast on larger streams and rivers.


A Flash Flood Watch is advanced notice that conditions are
favorable that may lead to flash flooding. People in the Watch
area, especially in flood prone areas, should use this time to
make preparations just in case. Stay informed, and be ready for
quick action if flooding is observed or if a Flash Flood Warning
is issued.

* Flood Warning for...
Cole County in central Missouri...
Boone County in central Missouri...
Audrain County in central Missouri...
Callaway County in central Missouri...
Osage County in central Missouri...
Moniteau County in central Missouri...

* Until 930 PM CDT Sunday.

* At 924 AM CDT, Law enforcement and the Department of Transporation
was reporting flooding across the area. This flooding is the
result of runoff from 3 to 6 inches of rainfall that has fallen
since late Friday. Flooding will continue on some area creeks,
streams, poor drainage areas, and roads which are often subject to
minor flooding.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Columbia, Jefferson City, Fulton, Mexico, California, Centralia,
Ashland, Tipton, Holts Summit, Linn, Columbia Regional Airport,
Belle, Wardsville, Hallsville, St. Martins, Auxvasse, Taos,
Sturgeon, Russellville and New Bloomfield.

This also includes Rock Bridge State Park, Finger Lakes State Park,
Clarks Hill/Norton Historic Site, Jewell Cemetery Historic Site, and
Jefferson Landing Historic Site.


Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Missouri River at Jefferson City
* until Wednesday evening.
* At 9:45 AM Sunday the stage was 22.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 23.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by this afternoon
and crest near 24.3 feet by tomorrow early afternoon. The river is
forecast to fall below flood stage by Tuesday evening.
* Impact: At 23.9 feet...Easley River Road is closed along the river
near Easley.
* Impact: At 23.5 feet...Near this height...Smith Hatchery is closed
south of Coopers Landing and Providence Landing cannot be reached.

* Flood stage is 23.0 feet.
* The river is forecast to rise above flood stage by late this
afternoon and to crest near 25.8 feet by tomorrow morning. The
river is forecast to fall below flood stage by early Tuesday
* Impact: At 23.0 feet...Near this height, Route W in Cole County
will be closed in both directions.
* Impact: At 20.5 feet...At least two farm houses become cut off by
the rising water near the mouth of Profits Creek.

* At 12:30 PM Sunday the stage was 29.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and is forecast to continue.
* The river is forecast to crest near 33.4 feet by after midnight
tonight. The river is forecast to fall below flood stage early
Tuesday morning.
* Impact: At 29.3 feet...Water level reaches the low steel of the
Tanner Bridge.
* Impact: At 23.5 feet...Near this height, Walnut Acres Road near
North Moreau Creek will likely need to be closed. This road is
18.3 river miles upstream of the gage.
* Impact: At 20.0 feet...Near this height, Buffalo Road will be
closed. This road is about 8.7 river miles upstream of the gage.
* Impact: At 19.0 feet...Near this height, Zion Road will be closed.
This road is about 12 river miles upstream of the gage.
* Impact: At 18.0 feet...Near this height, both Bainer Road and
Loesch Road will be closed. These roads are about 15.5 to 16 river
miles upstream of the gage.
