...A FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 115 PM CST SATURDAY FOR
CHEROKEE...LAWRENCE AND JASPER COUNTIES...

At 1156 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated an area of very heavy
rainfall across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain has
already fallen with an additional inch of rainfall possible
overnight.

Creeks, streams, and low water crossings will be especially
susceptible to the dangers of flooding.

This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...
North Main and Murphy Boulevard In Joplin...
Highway 97 at The Spring River north of Stotts City...
Highway 37 at The Spring River southwest of Avilla...
Highway 7 at Little Cherry Creek north of Columbus...
and Route JJ at Center Creek southeast of Carl Junction.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

The Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri, including the
following areas, in southeast Kansas, Cherokee. In Missouri,
Barry, Camden, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Dent, Douglas, Greene,
Howell, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, Maries, McDonald, Miller,
Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Phelps, Polk, Pulaski, Shannon, Stone,
Taney, Texas, Webster, and Wright.

* Through this evening

* A couple more rounds of moderate to locally heavy rainfall will
occur on already saturated ground through this evening. One to
two inches of additional rainfall is expected near and south of
the Interstate 44 corridor. Amounts up to three inches are
possible over localized areas.

* Additional flooding may develop including low water crossings,
low lying spots, area creeks, streams, and rivers.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
