...Winter Storm to impact Upper Michigan with possible heavy snow
Monday into Tuesday...
A low pressure system, expected to deepen over the Central Plains
late Sunday and Sunday night, will then likely track over northern
Lower Michigan Monday night and early Tuesday. This deepening
storm system has the potential to dump moderate to heavy snow
across much of Upper Michigan Monday into Tuesday. As of now, it
looks like the heaviest total snowfall will occur over far west
and north central Upper Michigan where lake enhancement and
terrain effects from a northeast wind flow should provide an added
boost to snow totals. Lesser snow amounts appear more likely over
south central Upper Michigan and along Lake Michigan where rain or
possible freezing rain on Monday could limit total snowfall.
Strengthening northeast to north winds, gusting as high as 40 mph
along Lake Superior Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning, will
also cause considerable blowing and drifting of snow.
Those planning travel across Upper Michigan early next week
should stay tuned for further updates on this winter storm system.
