...Snow developing over the Detroit Metro Area...

A very narrow band of moderate to occasionally heavy snow is
lifting through southern portions of the Metro Area this evening.
This band will continue to lift north over the next two hours.
Most locations south and east of approximately M-14 in Washtenaw
County and I-96 in Wayne County will see a brief burst of light
snow accumulation on area roads between now and 8 PM. Further
north, particularly between the M-59 and I-96 corridors,
accumulating snow carrying occasional visibilities as low as 1/4
of a mile will persist for several hours.

Motorists are advised to prepare for rapidly changing road
conditions and allow extra room for braking.

...CAUTIOUS TRAVEL IS ADVISED FOR SNOW-COVERED ROADWAYS AND
REDUCED VISIBILITIES this evening.

WEATHER...

* Disorganized moderate snow is affecting the area. Occasional
heavy snow will be possible during the next 2 to 3 hours.

* Snow accumulations of around 1 inch are expected mainly north
of I-94. Amounts may approach 2 inches near 8 Mile Road.

* Air temperatures will range between 25 and 30 degrees.

IMPACTS...

* Motorists...particularly those traveling on north-south
roads...should expect rapid changes in road conditions.
Impacted north-south thoroughfares include US-23, I-275, I-75,
M53, and others.

* Visibilities will be near 1/4 of a mile at times due to heavy snow.
Rapid fluctuations of visibility are likely.

* Accumulating snow may lead to slippery roads particularly on
bridges, exit ramps and overpasses.

* The combination of Moderate Snow and cold temperatures will
result in localized slippery conditions and variable traffic
rates throughout the county. Motorists are urged to use
caution and account for the variable driving conditions by

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM EST
TUESDAY...

* WHAT...A burst of heavy snow during rush hour brought around 1.5
inches of snow to portions of the Detroit Metro Area. An
additional 1 to 2 inches of snow is expected in a portion of the
advised area. Occasional bursts of heavy snow may reduce
visibility to 1/4 mile.

* WHERE...Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Wayne
Counties between M59 and I-96.

* WHEN...Until 2 AM EST Tuesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for reduced visibilities at
times.
