The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for Washington DC, Anne Arundel, Baltimore,
Charles, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, and Prince Georges
Counties in Maryland including Baltimore City, and Arlington,
Culpeper, Eastern Loudoun, Fairfax, Fauquier, Green, Madison,
Prince William, Rappahannock and Stafford Counties in Virginia,
including the independent cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls
Church, Manassas and Manassas Park as well as the Northern
Virginia Blue Ridge.

* From noon today through 10 PM EDT this evening.

* Showers and thunderstorms capable of heavy rain are expected
this afternoon and evening, and may lead to flash flooding.
Localized rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected.


A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
