MASSACHUSETTS.

* TIMING...STRONGEST WINDS WILL OCCUR TONIGHT FROM 10 PM TO 4 AM
EARLY TUESDAY MORNING...BUT POSSIBLY LINGERING UNTIL 7 AM ACROSS
NORTHEAST MASSACHUSETTS INCLUDING THE GREATER BOSTON AREA.

* WINDS...NORTHEAST 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 55
MPH...STRONGEST WIND CLOSER TO THE COAST.

* IMPACTS...WINDS WILL INCREASE TODAY WITH THE STRONGEST OF THE
WINDS COMING TONIGHT INTO EARLY TUESDAY MORNING. THESE WINDS
WILL BE CAPABLE OF DOWNING A FEW TREES AND MAY RESULT IN
ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES. THESE WINDS MAY ALSO CAUSE LOCALIZED
PROPERTY DAMAGE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT SUSTAINED WINDS OF 31 TO 39 MPH ARE
EXPECTED...WITH GUSTS BETWEEN 46 TO 57 MPH. WINDS THIS STRONG ARE
CAPABLE OF DOWNING SMALL TREE LIMBS AND BRANCHES... POSSIBLY
CAUSING ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES. DRIVING CAN ALSO BE DIFFICULT...

* LOCATIONS...EAST SLOPES OF THE BERKSHIRES IN WESTERN
MASSACHUSETTS...THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF NORTHERN WORCESTER
COUNTY...AND EXTREME NORTHWEST HARTFORD COUNTY.

* HAZARD TYPES...FREEZING RAIN...SLEET...AND SNOW.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW/SLEET ACCUMULATION OF 3 TO 6 INCHES ACROSS
THE EAST SLOPES OF THE BERKSHIRES WITH 1 TO 4 INCHES ALONG THE
MASSACHUSETTS-NEW HAMPSHIRE BORDER INCLUDING THE ROUTE 2
CORRIDOR. FOR THE WORCESTER HILLS AN INCH OR TWO ACCUMULATION
IS LIKELY. A TENTH TO A QUARTER INCH OF ICE ACCRETION IS
POSSIBLE ACROSS THE HIGH TERRAIN ALONG THE EAST SLOPES OF THE
BERKSHIRES AND NORTHERN WORCESTER HILLS.

* UNCERTAINTY...SNOW AND SLEET THIS EVENING MAY TRANSITION TO A
PERIOD OF HEAVY WET SNOW OVERNIGHT. IF THIS OCCURS THE HIGHER
END OF OUR SNOW FORECAST IS LIKELY WITH 6+ INCHES ACROSS THE
EAST SLOPES OF THE BERKSHIRES. IF SNOW AND SLEET TRANSITION TO
SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN THEN THE LOWER END OF OUR SNOW FORECAST
IS LIKELY...CLOSER TO 3 INCHES. A TEMPERATURE CHANGE OF 1 DEGREE
CAN HAVE A LARGE IMPACT ON SNOW/SLEET VERSUS SLEET AND FREEZING
RAIN.

* TIMING...LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS THIS EVENING WILL TRANSITION TO A
STEADY AND HEAVIER SNOW AND SLEET LATER THIS EVENING AND THEN
CHANGING TO SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN OVERNIGHT INTO TUESDAY
MORNING.

* IMPACTS...UNTREATED ROADS AND WALKWAYS WILL BE SLIPPERY
ESPECIALLY THIS EVENING INTO TUESDAY MORNING. THERE IS A LOW
RISK THAT ENOUGH ICE ACCRETION MAY OCCUR TO RESULT IN ISOLATED
POWER OUTAGES.

* WINDS...NORTHEAST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH.
