...Wintry Precipitation Possible Late Tonight and on Tuesday...

A cold front will push through the region this evening, and
moisture will move into the area behind it during the predawn
hours of Tuesday. A light mix of patchy snow, drizzle, and or
freezing drizzle is expected to develop between 3 AM and 7 AM
EST. This could lead to a light accumulation of snow or a light
glaze of ice in a few locations by the start of the morning
commute. This could lead to a few slick spots during the morning
commute, especially on untreated roadways and elevated surfaces
and bridges.

As colder air moves into the area, precipitation will transition
to all snow between 5 AM and 9 AM EST. Scattered to numerous snow
showers are expected during the morning, with scattered snow
showers lingering through late afternoon in locations closer to
the VA and WV border. Overall snow accumulations will be light,
with accumulations in most locations of a dusting to a half inch
of snow. A few locations that receive multiple heavier snow
showers and some ridgetop locations near the VA border could
receive locally as much as one inch. The additional falling snow
during the day on Tuesday combined with slowly falling
temperatures could lead to some slick spots during the day on
Tuesday through early Tuesday evening, especially on untreated
roadways, ridgetops, and elevated surfaces and bridges.

Use caution when driving late tonight and on Tuesday, especially
on untreated roadways and elevated surfaces and bridges. Slow
down and allow extra time to reach your destination safely.
