...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING...

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of central Indiana and
west central Indiana, including the following areas, in
central Indiana, Johnson, Morgan, Rush, and Shelby. In west
central Indiana, Clay, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Vermillion, and
Vigo.

* Through Saturday morning

* Multiple rounds of thunderstorms are expected overnight through
Saturday morning on top of rain that has already fallen this
evening. Several inches of rain are possible over all or parts
of the watch area.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

The Sugar Creek at Crawfordsville.
* from Monday morning to Tuesday afternoon.
* At 9:30 PM Friday the stage was 2.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late Monday morning and
continue to rise to near 9.0 feet by Monday early afternoon. The
river will fall below flood stage by Tuesday morning.
* At 10.0 feet...Flooding is in progress along Sugar Creek.
Montgomery County Road 175 E, Rock River Ridge Road and other roads
are impassable. Flooding begins north of Sugar Creek along U.S.
231.

Norton Creek to reopen North Main Street just south of SR 63.

* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Sunday morning and continue to
rise to near 27.0 feet by Wednesday early afternoon.
* At 27.0 feet...Extensive agricultural flooding is in progress.
State Road 234 near Lodi may have as much as one foot of water on
it. Several county roads extensively flooded in Vermillion...
Fountain and Parke Counties.

The Wabash River at Lafayette.
* from Sunday afternoon until further notice.
* At 9:30 PM Friday the stage was 4.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Sunday afternoon and continue
to rise to near 20.5 feet by Tuesday morning.
* At 21.0 feet...Extensive flooding blocks access to River Bend
Hospital by North River Road. Shamrock Park and the old Municipal
Golf Course are extensively flooded. Residents along North River
Rd, Davis Ferry Rd area and Barton Beach Road area are impacted by
flood waters. In Tippecanoe County Barton Beach Rd, SR 225, CR 950
W and portions of Division and CR 700 W are flooded near the river.

The Wabash River at Covington.
* from Sunday evening until further notice.
* At 9:45 PM Friday the stage was 7.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Sunday before midnight and
continue to rise to near 25.4 feet by Wednesday morning.
* At 25.6 feet...The Wabash River is nearly 3 miles wide along SR 234
by backing up into Coal Creek on the west side of Lodi and the
Vermillion River on the north side of Cayuga. Flood waters are at
the edge of the north side of SR 234 but not on the road. North
Sandhill Road and W CR 260 N on the northeast side of Covington
extensively flooded in places. Silver Island Road just south of SR
32 is impassable.
