...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of central Illinois and west central Illinois,
including the following areas, in central Illinois, Mason,
Tazewell, and Woodford Counties. In west central Illinois,
Cass, Morgan, and Scott Counties.

* Through Monday morning.

* Periods of heavy rainfall are expected through Sunday night. By
Monday morning, another 2 inches of rain is likely along the
Illinois River valley.

* In addition to potential flooding of streets and roads in
flood prone areas, area rivers and streams are also likely to
experience flooding. This would persist for several days after
the rain ends.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION
especially if driving. Never drive across a flooded roadway. You
should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

* From Monday afternoon until further notice.
* At 845 PM Saturday the stage was 460.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 471 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Monday afternoon, with a broad
crest around 473.0 feet on Wednesday.
* Impact...At 471.0 feet, flooding begins to agricultural areas not
protected by levees.

* Impact...At 459.9 feet, flooding begins to impact some residences

* Until further notice.
* At 845 PM Saturday the stage was 15.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 24.0 feet by
Saturday morning then begin falling.
* Impact...At 22.0 feet, Riverfront Park in Havana is inundated.
At 25.0 feet, water reaches the low steel on the IL 78/97
bridges over Lacy Ditch and the Spoon River, just north of the wye
with U.S. 136.

* Until 845 AM CDT Sunday

* At 1146 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated the heavy rain that caused
the flash flooding across parts of the area has ended. However,
additional light to moderate rainfall is expected overnight into
Sunday morning. Doppler rainfall estimates in this area range from
2 to locally 4 inches.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Peoria, Pekin, Canton, Beardstown, Eureka, Havana, Rushville,
Lewistown, Mason City, Lacon, Virginia, East Peoria, Morton,
Washington, Bartonville, Chillicothe, Creve Coeur, West Peoria,
Metamora and Germantown Hills.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 155 between mile markers 11 and 31.
Interstate 39 between mile markers 10 and 28, and between mile
markers 38 and 40.
Interstate 474 between mile markers 0 and 14.
Interstate 74 between mile markers 72 and 116.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
