...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH
THURSDAY MORNING...

The National Weather Service in Quad Cities has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Illinois, Iowa, and
northeast Missouri, including the following areas, in
Illinois, Bureau, Hancock, Henderson, Henry IL, McDonough,
Mercer, Putnam, Rock Island, Warren, and Whiteside. In Iowa,
Cedar, Clinton, Des Moines, Henry IA, Iowa, Jefferson,
Johnson, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren, and
Washington. In northeast Missouri, Clark and Scotland.

* From 4 PM this afternoon through Thursday morning

* Storms will be capable of high rainfall rates due to high
moisture levels in the atmosphere.

* The area of greatest risk is south of a line from Sigourney,
Iowa to Kewanee, Illinois. Here storms may move over the same
areas and produce 1 to 3 inches of rain in a short time period.

* A second area of concern is north of a Sigourney, Iowa to
Kewanee, Illinois line. Here the ground is very moist from heavy
rain last Friday night. Any high rainfall rates in this area
may result in flash flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that flash flooding is possible.
Monitor forecasts and take action if flash flood warnings are
issued or flash flooding develops.

* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and is forecast to continue.
* Recent activity...The river is currently cresting.
* Forecast...Fall to 14.4 feet Thursday morning.
* Impact...At 15.2 feet, Water affects the lowest streets on
Vandruffs Island.

* Impact...At 17.7 feet, Water affects the railroad tracks south of
Prophetstown.
