...BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST
* SHORT TERM TRENDS...Light to moderate snow will continue across
much of the warning area into the early evening, although the
snow will begin to end in western portions of the warning as the
system pulls east. Strong north winds are expected into the
evening, although they will also subside with time. Blizzard
conditions are expected in mainly rural areas for the next few
hours with some improvement by mid to late evening.
* ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...1 to 2 inches.
* WINDS/VISIBILITY...Northerly winds at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up
to 35 mph. Visibility will be reduced below three quarters of
mile for long periods with occasional white-out conditions,
mainly in rural areas.
* IMPACTS...Travel will remain dangerous as blowing snow reduces
visibility. Many tow bans remain in effect across northern Iowa.
A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions, making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If
you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get
stranded, stay with your vehicle.
