...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CDT THIS
* WHAT...Heavy wet snow to continue into the early afternoon
hours. Snowfall rates will begin to lessen through the afternoon
hours. Total snow accumulations in the heaviest region of snow
from near Forest City to Mason City to Waterloo of 14 to 18
inches, with locally higher amounts possible. Total snow
amounts from Estherville to Algona to Fort Dodge and Tama of 10
to 14 inches. Lighter amounts of 6 to 10 inches near Ames and
Marshalltown to Grinnell.
* WHERE...North Central into Northeast and East Central Iowa.
* WHEN...Until 4 PM CDT this afternoon.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Extremely difficult travel conditions are
present and are expected to continue into the afternoon hours.
Tow bands are in effect and travel is not advisory in spots. Be
prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times. Tree
branches and power lines may be downed from heavy, wet snow.
Flat roofs may collapse from the weight of the heavy wet snow.
Snow will be difficult to move and caution is advised with snow
