...MIXED PRECIPITATION CONTINUES TO TRANSITION TO WET SNOW...

A band of mixed precipitation consisting of sleet...rain...and
freezing rain continues to transition to snow over eastern New
York and western New England. The moderate to heavy snow continues
to be over the eastern Capital District into the northern and
central Taconics and southern Vermont. A quick inch or two of wet
snow is possible prior to 1030 pm. The transition to wet snow
will continue south and east into the Berkshires...southern
Taconics...mid Hudson Valley and Litchfield Hills between 815 pm
and 1030 pm. Periods of snow mixed with some sleet will continue
over the eastern Catskills...and the Upper Hudson River Valley and
Lake George Region. Additional sleet accumulations will be light
with a coating to a few tenths of an inch...and ice accretions
will be a few hundredths of an inch.

Untreated snow, slush and ice covered roadways will become
treacherous. If you are traveling across the region
tonight...please be aware of rapidly changing road conditions.
Please exercise caution while driving.

HOWEVER...PORTIONS OF THE EASTERN CAPITAL REGION INTO THE
NORTHERN TACONICS COULD RECEIVE 1 TO 3 INCHES OF WET SNOW.

* ADDITIONAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS...A TRACE TO A FEW HUNDREDTHS OF
AN INCH. SOME LOCALIZED TENTH OF AN INCH AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE.

* TIMING...A MIXTURE OF FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET WILL TRANSITION TO
WET SNOW EARLY THIS EVENING. THE SNOW MAYBE BRIEFLY HEAVY AT
TIMES.

* IMPACTS...SLUSH...SNOW AND ICE COVERED ROADS WILL MAKE FOR
HAZARDOUS TRAVEL. SIDEWALKS...DRIVEWAYS...AND PARKING LOTS WILL
BE VERY SLIPPERY. THE COMBINATION OF GUSTY WINDS AND WET
SNOWFALL AND ICE ACCRETION MAY LEAD TO SOME LOCALIZED POWER
OUTAGES AS WELL.

* WINDS...NORTH 10 TO 20 MPH. SOME GUSTS 25 TO 35 MPH.
