MOUNTAINS...GORE RANGE...FRONT RANGE...TENMILE RANGE...SAWATCH RANGE
AND NORTH SAN JUAN

THE COLORADO AVALANCHE INFORMATION CENTER HAS ISSUED AN AVALANCHE
WATCH FOR THE NORTH AND CENTRAL MOUNTAINS OF COLORADO. A STRONG
WINTER STORM WILL IMPACT THE AREA FROM SUNDAY INTO MONDAY. AVALANCHE
DANGER WILL INCREASE RAPIDLY AS SNOW ACCUMULATES AND DRIFTS.
BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE CONDITIONS COULD BECOME VERY DANGEROUS BY
SUNDAY AFTERNOON. TRAVEL IN OR BELOW AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT
RECOMMENDED.

AFTERNOON...

* LOCATION...THE LA GARITA MOUNTAINS ABOVE 10000 FEET AND
SAGUACHE COUNTY WEST OF THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE...INCLUDING
NORTH PASS AND SARGENTS.

* CAUSE AND TIMING...A STRONG PACIFIC JET STREAM WILL BRING
PERIODS OF HEAVY...BLOWING SNOW THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...6 TO 11 INCHES.

* WIND...NORTHWEST AT 15 TO 30 WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH.

* IMPACT...TRAVEL WILL BE HAZARDOUS DUE TO HEAVY BLOWING AND
DRIFTING SNOW...POOR VISIBILITIES...AND ICY...SNOW COVERED
ROADS.
