At 402 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Butte City, Cordora and Afton, or 12 miles southeast of Willows,
moving southeast at 10 mph.

Half to three quarter inch hail, gusty winds in excess of 30 mph and
brief downpours will be possible with this storm through 5 pm. This
storm also has the potential to produce a brief funnel cloud.

Another strong storm was located near Newville and Chrome and will
be affecting remote areas of northwestern Glenn County through 5 pm.

Other locations impacted include... Orland, Willows, Glenn, Dayton,
Black Butte Summit, Hamilton City and Black Butte Lake.


Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

* MAIN IMPACT...Travel delays with chain controls and slick
roads. Limited visibility at times due to heavier snow and
gusty wind.

* TIMING...Through the evening.

* LOCATIONS...Donner Pass on Interstate 80, Echo Summit on
Highway 50 and Carson Pass on Highway 88.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...Additional amounts of 4 to 8 inches above
4500 feet with up to 12 inches over the peaks.
