THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SACRAMENTO HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING ABOVE 6000 FEET FOR SNOW...WHICH
IS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM FRIDAY TO 2 PM PDT SATURDAY. THE WINTER
STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* IMPACTS: MODERATE TRAVEL PROBLEMS LIKELY. MOTORISTS MAY
EXPERIENCE VERY LONG DELAYS. CHAIN RESTRICTIONS ARE PROBABLE
ESPECIALLY FOR TRUCKS. REDUCED VISIBILITY DURING HEAVIER SNOW
WILL MAKE DRIVING HAZARDOUS.

* CONFIDENCE: HIGH CONFIDENCE THAT SNOW WILL OCCUR ABOVE 6000 FT.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM FRIDAY TO
11 AM PDT SATURDAY...

* SNOW AND ELEVATION...4 TO 8 INCHES FROM 6000 TO 8000 FEET. 6 TO
15 INCHES ABOVE 8000 FEET.

* WINDS...WEST 15 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE...YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK...INCLUDING TUOLUMNE
MEADOWS AND TIOGA PASS AS WELL AS KINGS CANYON NATIONAL PARK
AND HUNTINGTON LAKE.

* TIMING...SNOW WILL BEGIN FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE THROUGH
THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL WILL END
LATE SATURDAY MORNING.

* IMPACTS...THIS IS THE FIRST SIGNIFICANT SNOW EXPECTED FOR THE
SEASON. THE WEATHER WILL TRANSITION FROM RELATIVELY WARM AND DRY
TO COLD AND SNOWY VERY QUICKLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON. ANYONE WITH
OUTDOOR PLANS IN THE MOUNTAINS SHOULD PLAN AHEAD FOR ADVERSE
WEATHER CONDITIONS. THIS MAY INCLUDE DELAYING OR CANCELING
TRAVEL PLANS.
