The San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District has
issued an air quality alert due to forecasted blowing dust and sand
in the Nipomo Mesa area. This air quality alert is in effect until 7
pm PDT this evening...Wednesday...September 20 and again on
Thursday...September 21 from 8 am to 7 pm PDT.

Exposure to particle pollution can cause serious health problems...
aggravate lung disease...cause asthma attacks and acute bronchitis...
and increase risk of respiratory infections.

Residents are advised to use caution as conditions warrant. People
with heart or lung disease should follow their doctors advice for
dealing with episodes of blowing dust.

Additionally...older adults and children should avoid prolonged
exposure...strenuous activity or heavy conditions

The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a
Wind Advisory, which is in effect from noon today to 9 PM PDT
this evening.

* WINDS AND TIMING...Northwest winds will increase to 15 to 25 mph
with gusts to 40 mph this afternoon, then persist through this
evening before diminishing.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will affect travel on Highways 1 and 101,
and State Route 246.


When driving, use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty
cross winds.
