Santa Clara CA-Santa Cruz CA-San Mateo CA-
1227 PM PST SUN JAN 22 2017

The National Weather Service in The San Francisco Bay Area has issued
a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Southwestern Santa Clara County in northern California...
Santa Cruz County in northern California...
San Mateo County in northern California...

* Until 630 PM PST Sunday

* At 1222 PM PST, Doppler radar indicated rain showers moving over
the impacted area. These rain showers will gradually increase in
coverage through afternoon and some will intensify into
thunderstorms through the evening. Thunderstorms can bring intense
bursts of rainfall in a short amount of time, overwhelming small
creeks, reservoirs, and drainage areas causing localized flooding.
In addition, additional rainfall on already saturated soils will
cause additional mud and rockslides and downed trees. Motorists
travelling through these areas should be vigilant for road hazards
and closed roads.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

Move away from recently burned areas. Life threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
