* TIMING...Strong Southwest to West winds are expected to develop
Thursday as another system moves into the region.

* WINDS...Southwest to West 30 to 40 mph with gusts to around 60
mph. Gusts up to 70 in the Sierra.

* IMPACTS...Difficult driving conditions, possible damage to
trees, power poles and fences.

Watch, which is in effect from Thursday afternoon through
Thursday evening.

* TIMING...The strongest winds are expected early this morning,
then decreasing by late morning. Winds will increase
significantly Thursday as another system moves into the region.

* WINDS...North or Northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to
45 mph are expected this morning then decrease by late morning.
Southwest to West winds Thursday with gusts up to 60 mph possible.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds may damage or displace unsecured
outdoor structures. Strong crosswinds will make travel
difficult for high profile vehicles. Strong winds on area
lakes will make for dangerous boating conditions. Localized
blowing dust will result in pockets of low visibility.

* AFFECTED AREA...Eastern Riverside County, Joshua Tree National
Park, and northern Imperial County. This includes Interstate
10 from Blythe toward the Coachella Valley. The higher
elevations will likely see the strongest winds.

* TIMING...Through late this afternoon.

* WINDS...Winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts generally up to 40 mph.
Gusts as high as 50 mph will be possible in Joshua Tree National
Park.

* IMPACTS...Strong crosswinds affecting east/west oriented roads.
Locally reduced visibilities due to areas of blowing dust creating
hazardous driving conditions. High profile vehicles will be
most susceptible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds of between
30 and 40 mph are expected, or wind gusts of between 40 and
58 mph. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially
for high profile vehicles. In addition, strong winds over desert
areas could result in briefly lowered visibilities to well under
a mile at times in blowing dust or blowing sand. Use extra
caution.
