AT 427 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER THE WARNED AREA. RADAR
ESTIMATES THAT BETWEEN 2 AND 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN OVER
PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST ARKANSAS AND MORE LIGHT TO MODERATE RAIN IS
ONGOING. REPORTS OF FLOODING HAVE RECENTLY BEEN RECEIVED FROM
GREENWOOD. WATER RESCUES HAVE ALSO OCCURRED EARLIER IN WASHINGTON
COUNTY.

RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING TO

FLOODED AND MANY HAVE YET TO CREST.

* ADDITIONAL RAINFALL TOTALS AROUND 1 INCH WILL BE POSSIBLE
THROUGH TONIGHT...WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS NEAR 2 INCHES
POSSIBLE...WITH THE HEAVIEST AMOUNTS MOST LIKELY ACROSS FAR
EASTERN OKLAHOMA THROUGH WESTERN ARKANSAS.

* At 2:30 PM Sunday, the stage was 9.9 feet.
* Action stage is 10.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise to near 12.9 feet by Monday morning,
which is below flood stage.

The Flood Warning continues for
The Arkansas River at Van Buren
* until further notice, or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 2:00 PM Sunday, the stage was 23.60 feet.
* Flood stage is 22.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The Arkansas River at Van Buren will continue rising to
near 33.0 feet Tuesday before dawn then begin falling.
* Impact...At 33.0 feet, damaging flooding occurs along the Arkansas
River floodplain from Moffett, Oklahoma downstream to Lock and Dam
13. The port of Fort Smith and nearby businesses are flooded.
Backwater flooding occurs in the trailer parks next to Lee Creek.
Some residential subdivisions around Fort Smith are flooded. This
is an extremely dangerous and life threatening situation.

The Flood Warning continues for
The Lee Creek near Van Buren.
* from this evening to Wednesday evening, or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 10:20 AM Saturday, the stage was 394.50 feet.
* Flood stage is 401.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The Lee Creek near Van Buren is expected to rise above
flood stage this evening and continue to rise to near 405.4 feet by
early Monday afternoon. The river is expected to fall below flood
stage early Wednesday afternoon.
* Impact...At 406.0 feet, Tailwater Park is inundated by high water.
Permanent structures in the park are damaged. Recreational vehicles
in a campground near Rena Road may be flooded.
