THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN FAIRBANKS HAS EXTENDED THE

* FLOOD ADVISORY FOR...
ICE JAM FLOODING FOR THE YUKON RIVER AT EAGLE...

* UNTIL 600 AM AKDT FRIDAY

* AN ICE JAM LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES DOWNRIVER FROM EAGLE
NEAR CALICO BLUFF IS CAUSING WATER AND ICE TO BACK UP INTO THE
COMMUNITY. THE JAM SHIFTED LATE WEDNESDAY EVENING BUT IT IS STILL
HOLDING.

* THE YUKON RIVER IS BANKFULL AND FLOWING OVERBANK IN SOME LOCATIONS
AND MINOR FLOODING IS OCCURRING IN THE COMMUNITY. AS OF
3PM...RESIDENTS REPORT WATER LEVELS HAVE CONTINUED TO SLOWLY DROP
SINCE CRESTING AT 37.15 FEET AT THE STAFF GAGE IN FRONT OF TOWN ON
WEDNESDAY EVENING. THE ROAD BETWEEN EAGLE AND EAGLE VILLAGE IS
INUNDATED AND THERE IS ALSO WATER IN THE YARDS OF HOMES ALONG THE
LOWER RIVER BANKS. THE RIVER IS CHOKED WITH ICE AND ICE FLOWS ARE
SPILLING OVERBANK AS WELL. WATER LEVELS WILL REMAIN HIGH AND MAY
FLUCTUATE UNTIL THE ICE JAM RELEASES.

WATER LEVELS UPRIVER AT DAWSON CITY ARE ONLY SHOWING MINOR
FLUCTUATIONS...SO A SIGNIFICANT SURGE OF WATER IS NOT EXPECTED TO
MOVE DOWNRIVER OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. IN ADDITION...THE LOWER
ELEVATION SNOWPACK IS GONE SO A LARGE PULSE OF SNOWMELT IS NOT
EXPECTED EITHER. IN ANY CASE...AS LONG AS THE ICE JAM REMAINS IN
PLACE MINOR FLOODING WILL CONTINUE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD ADVISORY MEANS RIVER OR STREAM FLOWS ARE ELEVATED...FLOODING
OF LOW LYING AREAS IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
TRAVEL ACROSS FLOODED ROADS. FIND ALTERNATE ROUTES.
