* 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN IS EXPECTED TO FALL TODAY THROUGH TOMORROW
MORNING ALONG THE NORTHERN ALASKA RANGE WITH LOCALLY HEAVIER
AMOUNTS. THIS RAIN WILL CAUSE RAPID RISES IN SMALL STREAM TO
BANKFULL LEVELS THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TOMORROW MORNING. SOME
STREAMS MAY EXPERIENCE MINOR FLOODING, ESPECIALLY THOSE IN
MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN. POTENTIAL FOR MINOR ROCK OR MUD SLIDES WILL
POSSIBLE IN STEEPER TERRAIN.

* FLOOD ADVISORY FOR...
STREAMS AND RIVERS BETWEEN THE TANANA AND YUKON RIVERS FROM
FAIRBANKS AND THE WHITE MOUNTAIN WEST...

* UNTIL 830 PM AKDT SUNDAY

* AT 833 PM AKDT...RAIN HAS BEEN FALLING OVER THE CHENA AND
CHATANIKA BASINS AS WELL AS OVER HIGHER TERRAIN BETWEEN THE YUKON
AND TANANA RIVERS TO THE NORTH AND WEST OF FAIRBANKS WITH AMOUNTS
RANGING FROM TWO TENTH OF AN INCH TO ONE INCH. ANOTHER ONE TO TWO
INCHES OF RAIN IS EXPECTED THROUGH SUNDAY. MANY STREAM AND RIVERS
IN THIS AREA ARE ALREADY HIGH DUE TO HEAVY RAIN FROM LAST WEEK.
THIS ADDITIONAL RAIN IS EXPECTED TO CAUSE STREAMS AND SMALL RIVERS
TO RISE RAPIDLY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WITH MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE.
FLOODING WILL BE MOST LIKELY ON SMALLER CREEKS IN STEEP TERRAIN.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE MINOR FLOODING INCLUDE...LOW
SPOTS ALONG THE TANANA RIVER BETWEEN FAIRBANKS AND
MANLEY...INCLUDING PERKINS LANDING...NENANA...AND MANLEY HOT
SPRINGS. ALSO INCLUDED ARE GOLDSTREAM CREEK...AND CREEKS CROSSING
THE ELLIOTT AND DALTON HIGHWAYS SOUTH OF THE YUKON RIVER.
MINOR FLOODING IS ALSO EXPECTED ON THE CHENA RIVER IN THE
STEAMBOAT LANDING SUBDIVISION.

IN FAIRBANKS...WATER LEVELS ON THE CHENA RIVER WILL RISE SATURDAY
NIGHT AND SUNDAY BUT ARE NOT EXPECTED TO BE HIGHER THAN THE PAST
WEEK. BIKE PATHS UNDER BRIDGES AND LOW LYING BACKYARDS WILL BE
UNDER WATER AS THEY WERE EARLIER THIS WEEK.

THERE IS A FLOOD WATCH THROUGH SUNDAY FOR THE ALL OF THE

FOR THE SOUTHERN SEWARD PENINSULA AND NULATO HILLS...

AS OF 1000 AM AKDT 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN OVER THE
ADVISORY AREA. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL OF UP TO ONE HALF INCH IS
EXPECTED SOUTH OF SHAKTOOLIK THIS AFTERNOON...WITH LITTLE TO NO
RAINFALL EXPECTED FROM SHAKTOOLIK NORTH.

RAPID RISES IN SMALL STREAMS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE. THE LARGER
RIVERS IN THE AREA...INCLUDING THE NIUKLUK AND KOYUK RIVERS...RISING
TO NEAR BANKFULL LEVELS TODAY. THESE RISES OF STREAMS AND RIVERS
WILL RESULT IN MINOR FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

RESIDENTS AND PEOPLE RECREATING ON RIVERS SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR
WATER LEVELS FOR RAPID CHANGES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL ACROSS
FLOODED ROADS OR TRAILS.

* FLOOD WATCH FOR CHENA...LITTLE CHENA AND CHATANIKA RIVERS.

* THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING

* BETWEEN ONE AND TWO INCHES OF RAIN IS EXPECTED TO FALL IN THE
CHENA AND CHATANIKA BASINS THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING WITH THE
POSSIBILITY OF LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS. THIS RAIN WILL BE FALLING
ON SOILS SATURATED FROM RECENT HEAVY RAINFALLS. RAPID RISES WILL
OCCUR IN THE HEADWATERS OF LOCAL STREAMS AND RIVERS BEGINNING
TODAY WITH AREAS DOWNSTREAM RISING THROUGH THE WEEKEND.

* EXPECT THE UPPER CHENA RIVER NEAR TWO RIVERS TO BE AT 19.5 FT AT
MINOR FLOOD STAGE BY SATURDAY NIGHT AND DOWNSTREAM AT MOOSE
CREEK DAM TO BE AT 24.5 FT AT MINOR FLOOD STAGE BY SUNDAY
EVENING.

* WATER MAY BE OVER THE ROAD AT MILE 36.9 CHENA HOT SPRINGS
ROAD...AND THERE MAY BE WATER OVER THE STILES CREEK SHOOTING
RANGE AND CAMPGROUND...ROSEHIP CAMPGROUND...COMPEAU TRAILHEAD...
AND THE GRANITE TORS TRAILHEAD.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.
